New story: Hard Times, originally published in some such issue of the now-defunct Men magazine. It actually has two other installments (which I may or may not end up posting here eventually). I wrote the whole opus on a train trip in the summer of 2009, and I remember just being so into it that I couldn’t stop until I finished the whole thing. When I was done I had blue balls and a wet spot on my shorts so I went to the train bathroom and knocked one out.
Anyway, this story update is way overdue, my last story post was in December. Sorry bout that.
“You wanna know the worst part?” he asked, looking up at me like some
sexy confused child. “We ain’t even do nothin! She accusess me of cheatin and all we do is hang.” He looked forward into the blank t.v. screen as if watching something intensely, “If I’m gonna be accused of cheatin, I at least ought to be enjoyin it, you know?” he asked, taking another swig of beer, looking as if he was really considering the idea.

My novel-in-stories of erotic fiction, Backwoods, is done done done and coming out this summer from Rebel Satori Press. Michael has completed the illustrations, the cover is GLORIOUS, and in the next couple of days I’m going to be putting up a rudimentary promotional page on here, just to have something I can link to. I haven’t written a word besides journal entries in the past three months. It’s getting old! I need to get back into writing, but haven’t been able to concentrate. The big change in my life is that I’m single now, and though I don’t really care to talk about that on the internet, it feels way too significant to gloss over. Know that I’m doing okay and working through things day to day. I know that people out there care, and it means a lot to me, but please don’t offer me sympathy. I’ll be fine.

Repost from old blog, 8/15/2009I was having a crappy day on Wednesday; an outcome of the extreme financial stress we’ve been having lately. I’d been so overcome by my problems, so paralyzed by the future, that I knew I needed to do something to escape.
I took a walk through a field near my house. I was picking wildflowers when I saw a family of deer: three does, three fawns. They spotted me almost instantly but kept walking toward me. They would stop, look around, look back at me, then continue toward me. They got about five yards away from me before one of them made a snirfing sound and they bounded off – all except for one adult, whose body was pointed toward where the rest was running but whose neck was craned back to look at me, as if too curious to run away. Finally I clapped to scare her and she ran.
But I was thinking about how the deer have to be constantly alert to danger. They kept looking up, looking around, then going back to what they were doing. All animals have to be like that, to varying extents. It’s important to be aware of danger, but equally important to go on with your life when no immediate threat is present.
“Well, we’re not going to have much privacy, and I saw that you had a boner all the way here, and since we’re both men, you can just jerk off when we get in the tent. I’ve been wantin’ too myself.”

Amateur “straight guy” porn – the web is overrun with it. You either love it, hate it, or jerk off and never think twice about it.
I find it alternately arousing, annoying, fascinating and frustrating. The guys that produce the stuff almost interest me more than the models themselves. There’s Sean Cody, sucking cock in his prim buttoned-up plaid shirt and pressed khakis; there’s Doug & Jay, looking stoned out of their gourds and having sloppy sex with trashy models who look just as if not more stoned; and then there’s the world of Straight College Men.com, possibly the most obnoxious site out there, with its insufferable, panty-voiced director fawning and wetting himself over his models, none of whom ever miss an opportunity to express their heterosexuality, even when they’re fucking each other in the ass.
But these sites interest me much more than studio-produced porn, nowadays, because there seems to be more room for fantasizing in them. The models carry a lot of embellished backstory, much more than the typical “character” played by a porn star allows. We get a chance to imagine what the amateur porn model’s life might be off camera. We can envision them being pulled off the street, away from girlfriends and jobs.
I realized recently that I get a lot of my best ideas for porn stories from these sites. There’s a lot going on in them, and I’m less interested in what’s “true” than in what is presented to me and what I can’t see.
