Just So Horny by Michael Kirwan

Michael Kirwan’s recently-released book Just So Horny arrived in the mail today. You might remember that Michael Kirwan did the illustrations for my getting-closer-to-being-released (seriously! more on that later) book, Backwoods. Well the awesome news is that three of the illustrations Michael did for Backwoods are included in Just So Horny. They’re full-page illustrations and they look amazing!

And the entire book is really quite incredible. Impeccably designed and in full color. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but seeing Michael’s illustrations presented this way – when I’ve only ever seen them in miniature through the cold grey light of the computer screen – is a revelation. They’re bold, exuberant, hot. I got a boner looking through it and it’s only a matter of time till I’ll jerk off to it. Well worth the price – which is surprisingly low for such a well-produced book. Buy it!

Bruno B.

Repost from old blog, 6/26/2009

I got the latest issue of my Favorite Magazine, Handjobs, in the mail yesterday (Handjobs pays for stories in trade, so I submit a story every time I need to update my subscription).

Handjobs has presented a lot of great erotic artists over the years – it was where Josman got his first real exposure – but there’s a story in this issue called “Cosmic Love” that really blew my mind. The artist – Bruno B. – has done stories for Handjobs before, and I thought they were interesting but not that much up my alley. He favors swarthy, rotund older men drawn manga style.

But the thing about “Cosmic Love” that impressed me is its outrageous use of color. The premise is bizarre and sort of hot, too – a variation on anime tentacle-rape scenarios.

Buy this issue if you can.

Kegger/Circle Jerk

Another Backwoods illustration detail, cause it’s Saturday. Michael’s sent me five by now, all are fantastic, and more are on the way…

Vellekoop

Vellekoop - Hercules and HylasJust informed by Drub’s blog that one of Canada’s finest, Maurice Vellekoop, has a website and blog. There’s lots to peruse here but I might as well just link you to the porn. Vellekoop has a way with color as well as sexy men, and his ABC Book is a must-own.

A.V. Phibes

I just came across this, another nice Art Frahm tribute (see Paul Richmond’s Cheesecake Boys), which in turn led me to more art by A.V. Phibes.

Drub

I’m gonna continue my spree of gay illustration appreciation with some posts on artists I’ve admired over the years.

First up is Drub. These are some of my favorites:

Tailor

Another image from Homocomix’s tumblr, which I obviously just recently discovered (thanks to Wolfshammy).

About this image, I’m speechless. Please, internet, can anyone tell me who made this? The signature seems like it says “Yineta” but that search led nowhere.
