God Bless Ebert
As I fell into the rhythm of the words, as I savored the way Dickens was planting his signposts for the development of the plot, as I watched him create unforgettable characters in a page or two, I felt a kind of peace. This wasn’t hectic. I wasn’t skittering around here and there. I wasn’t scanning headlines and skimming pages and tweeting links. I was reading.
What I am going to do, is take some time every day to read.
Ebert: The quest for frisson

I usually get irked by crabby people who think this generation is the worst and stupidest, but he is mostly right. This internet, hyper-consumption shit is new.
I’ve read some books the last few months and I trudged through them, giving up on some. I thought maybe I just didn’t like them, but it could be that I couldn’t focus or immerse myself and that scares me since I used to get completely absorbed into books in high school. This summer I need to try an internet vacation, since I spend about 14 hours a day on the internet. I need to fix my brain.

I will do this with you, Rob! I need motivation to pull myself away sometimes.
