My Jam

Ebert & Meyer & The Sex Pistols

Really a priceless account from Roger Ebert of the aborted creation of “Who Killed Bambi?”

Backwoods Update

Detail from the map that will go in the front of Backwoods. My artist friend graciously worked with me on this drawing so I'd have something to send out with the manuscript when submitting it.

It’s been awhile since I heard that Rebel Satori Press was going to work with me on publishing my book of erotica, Backwoods, so it’s time I gave an update on what’s going on.

My dream for the book has always been for it to be illustrated. A while back I contacted Michael Kirwan about working with me. I’m a huge fan of his drawings, and his style is perfectly suited to the style of the book and its rural fantasia, sorta-sexy sorta-realistic feel. Kirwan is more or less on board with the project but there’s been some back and forth over compensation. Unfortunately Rebel Satori passed on funding the illustrations (they’re a small press, really a one-man operation, so I wasn’t surprised), which leaves me in the position of having to come up with the money myself. New Story Alert!

New story: Deep Valley.

This is technically a “straight bud” story and as such it fulfills my duty as per the result of my most recent story poll. It’s not a new story, however, it’s an old one that I discovered and re-read and decided was not so shabby. In fact I probably would have submitted this one to a magazine back when magazines existed. As it is I’m giving it away. For free. But you can give me money for it, if you want:

Thoughts on “August: Osage County”

I saw a play last night and here are my thoughts on it:

1) “August: Osage County” is really a horror story. I didn’t expect this, despite that my sole reason for going to see it was that it was written by Tracy Letts, whose play “Bug” (which I didn’t see) was the basis for an immensely powerful movie (which I did see) that fit easily within the realm of horror and was directed by William Friedkin (who also directed “The Exorcist”). “August” was marketed as a family melodrama/comedy, and it is that, too. It’s completely engrossing, novelistic even, with hairpin turns to the plot and vivid characters and plenty of laughs.

Serious Business: Cock Measuring Edition

In this video some rugby boys who obviously have no idea how to measure their cocks are taught to do so in the proper fashion by a not-entirely-creepy/sorta-sexy doctor because knowing your cock size is important blah blah potential psychological condition blah blah interest of public health.  It’s fucking weird, and well worth the (admittedly annoying) Rapidshare download. Dig the slow-mo recap edit.

A Few Words about Road House

Repost from old blog, 1/31/2008

I recently watched the 1989 Patrick Swayze film Road House. I fear that when I tell you I found the film incredible (and unbelievable, in every sense of the word) you’ll think I’m being facetious. Not so.
